Phil Collins Big Band Tour '98/García Photo Album (page 1)

Welcome to the photo album, where I'll share a few images from the Phil Collins Big Band Tour '98 (in addition to those on the previous page).

One of my hobbies is to shoot montage images assembled from several near-simultaneous photos. Even though my camera takes panoramic shots, I often find the montages more satisfying (even with the slight mismatching across frames).

I hope you'll enjoy this peek into the tour.

"Four Cannons and a Relic": It was such a pleasure to make music every day with Mark Bettcher, Arturo Velasco, and Scott Bliege. What a great section sound!

The view of Montreux, Switzerland, from my hotel window. It's not bad to wake up to this scene every day!

The Montreux Jazz Festival was a great venue to play, particularly because of the exceptional Stravinsky Hall.

While we occasionally played large festivals, it was clear that Phil chose a lot of intimate venues to preserve the jazz band's sound and connect with the audiences. This ancient coliseum was in Lyon, France—seen here before the gig...

One of the most picturesque occasions was performing in front of the magnificent Dom cathedral in Köln, Germany. This structure can be seen from many miles away and was purposefully not bombed by either side in World War II—perhaps not so much out of respect but because it provided such a clear landmark from the air.

From its base, it's impossible to capture the breadth of this incredible structure in even a few adjacent photos.
